Salary: £35,800 + 18% shift allowance

We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and established manufacturing business looking for a hands‑on and proactive Team Leader to join their operation in Letchworth.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take real ownership of a production area and team. You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team, managing day-to-day performance, monitoring KPIs and ensuring customer deadlines are met, all while maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Job Overview- Leading, motivating and supporting a team within a busy manufacturing environment.
- Managing day-to-day team performance and addressing performance issues when required.
- Monitoring key manufacturing KPIs including productivity, quality, waste, downtime and delivery.
- Ensuring production schedules are achieved and customer deadlines are met.
- Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture and ensuring safe working procedures are followed.
- Supporting the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensuring products are manufactured to the required quality and customer specifications.
- Carrying out regular quality checks and ensuring standards are consistently maintained.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Supporting Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 5S and visual management.
- Managing stock levels, materials and consumables to ensure production is not disrupted.
- Supporting the training, coaching and development of team members.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across the production area.
- Working closely with other departments to ensure production runs smoothly.
- Taking a proactive approach to resolving operational issues and keeping the team on track.
- Proven experience supervising or leading a team within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, coach and hold people accountable.
- Experience working with KPIs, targets and production performance.
- Strong understanding and awareness of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
- Confident dealing with performance issues and having constructive conversations with team members.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, hands‑on and solution-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality.
- Experience of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing or 5S would be advantageous.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with other departments while taking ownership of your own area.
- Permanent position within an established and successful manufacturing business.
- Monday to Friday working pattern.
