We're recruiting for a hands-on Prototype Welder / Fitter to support the development and build of specialist equipment.

This role would suit a practical engineer who enjoys taking ideas and turning them into working prototypes. You'll be involved in Tig Welding, Fabrication, Machining, Assembly and mechanical problem-solving, working closely with the wider engineering team to develop and improve new equipment.

• Building and developing prototype machinery and mechanical assemblies
• Machining, TIG Welding and Fabricating components
• Assembling, modifying and testing mechanical parts
• Producing practical solutions to design and build challenges
• Supporting mechanical maintenance and fault-finding when required
• Working with hygienic stainless-steel fabrications and welded assemblies
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of prototype designs

• Strong hands-on mechanical engineering experience
• Tig Welding Machining, fabrication and mechanical assembly skills
• Experience working within a machinery or equipment-building environment
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings
• A practical, solutions-focused approach
• Experience with food-processing or packaging machinery would be particularly advantageous
• Knowledge of hygienic design and hygienic welding principles would be beneficial

This is an initial six-month contract with an immediate start. For the right person, there is strong potential for an extension.
