This term position runs for approximately 19 weeks, from November 16, 2020, to March 31, 2021. The intern will report to the Collection Technician and will be tasked with handling, cataloguing, and entering new acquisitions into the museum database. Ideal candidates will showcase their cataloguing skills and attention to detail in a professional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Catalogue new acquisitions into the museum database
• Handle and classify cultural objects with care
• Photograph items in-house for documentation
• Maintain records and assist in object appraisal
• Work independently and collaboratively with volunteers
Requirements:
• Post-secondary degree in humanities or art
• Strong research and writing skills
• Knowledge of museum practices and cataloguing
• Experience in studio photography is a plus
• Ability to work independently and observe artifact care
