Position: Faculty of Arts & Science - Assistant Professor (Environmental Science)

Position Details

The Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Environmental Science. The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in both the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Geography & Environment. The anticipated starting date for the position is July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $79,132 to $98,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We are seeking a scholar who can strengthen and complement our current research capacity in the fields of environmental science, ecology, and physical geography
. General research topics of interest include, but are not limited to, organismal or ecosystem ecology, biogeography, climate and environmental change, wetlands, and biogeochemistry.
The successful candidate will develop a vibrant, innovative, and collaborative research program that attracts outstanding graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, while successfully competing for external research funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) among other granting agencies. In addition, the candidate will have access to the Aquatic Research Facility (ARF), , and the .

The successful candidate must be able to teach in the undergraduate Environmental Science (ENVS) program that is jointly administered by the Department of Biological Sciences (BIOL) and the Department of Geography & Environment (GEOG). This will include introductory Environmental Science and other courses (for current course offerings, search for BIOL, ENVS, and GEOG at: ).

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent), preferably with relevant postdoctoral experience.
