Position Details
The Department of invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of July 1st, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $79,132 to $98,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Statistics (or a related field) at the time of appointment and demonstrate the potential to develop a research program in their area of specialty. Potential departments and programs for collaboration at the University include Data Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Economics, Geography & Environment, Kinesiology & Physical Education, Mathematics & Computer Science, Neuroscience, Psychology, Faculty of Health Sciences and the Dhillon School of Business.
Candidates are invited to share their interest and capability to work or collaborate with any of these groups or with Industry.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses within our Applied Statistics program. As such, experience with both large service courses as well as more senior courses is valued. Furthermore, the candidate should have the desire and capability to contribute to the development and curriculum of our Applied Statistics program.

We are seeking a candidate with an interest in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students including through the supervision of independent studies. Any mentorship experience, whether academic or otherwise, is a valuable asset. An interest or past involvement in outreach is also welcome.

Our Team
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has an enthusiastic group of faculty members in the areas of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Our department offers an Applied Statistics program with specializations in the areas of Economics, Psychology and Geography. Other programs offered by the department include Mathematics, Mathematics Education and Computer Science. The University has a strong focus on experiential learning, and the undergraduate student research is often funded by grants received by faculty members, NSERC, or other internal scholarship opportunities.
The University is a member of the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences, which offers funding opportunities for workshops, seminars, outreach activities, and various other programs.
