Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) - French Immersion Teacher - Grade 9 to 12
FTE: 1.00 – Temporary

Expected start date:
August 25th, 2026; anticipated to complete on June 29th, 2027 or based on the incumbent’s return.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned Social Studies and/or Science courses in French aligned with the grade 9-12 provincial curriculum.

Develop and deliver engaging, student‑centered lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and problem‑solving.

Integrate language and content instruction to support French immersion learners.

Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies.

Create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment.

Support students in developing both academic and linguistic proficiency.

Collaborate with colleagues in immersion and non‑immersion programs.

Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and staff (in French and English as appropriate).

Participate in school‑wide and department initiatives.

Qualifications

Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.

Demonstrates a sound understanding of diverse learning contexts and the variables that influence student success, including cultural, social, and individual factors.

Possesses deep knowledge of subject disciplines and applies evidence‑based pedagogical approaches that reflect current best practices.

Shows proficiency in curriculum planning, formative and summative assessment strategies, and differentiated instructional practices that meet diverse learning needs.

Implements effective classroom management strategies that foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Integrates technology purposefully and effectively to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Embodies the qualities of a reflective professional, actively engaging in ongoing professional learning aligned with Alberta's Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).

Demonstrates commitment to building and maintaining respectful, professional relationships within the school community.

Values and actively participates in collaborative practice and teamwork with colleagues, students, and families.

Contributes actively to school culture, student activities, and extracurricular programs while developing effective partnerships within the school and broader community.

Conditions of Employment

Provide a police information check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment with no charges or convictions.

Provide a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.

Provide proof of photo identification (valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card, valid passport, or Nexus card).

Provide documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name; if not available, obtain and submit within three days of hire.
