G.S Lakie Middle School – Drama Grade 6 to 8 and Grade 7 Math Teacher

FTE: 0.55 – Interim *

The expected start date is August 25, 2026.

Subjects

G.S Lakie Middle School is seeking a Drama teacher to join their team at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Drama grade 6 to 8 and one grade 7 Math course. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in supporting students, have an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner and will:

  • Have a background and/or formal training in Drama (preferred);
  • Have previous experience teaching Drama at the Middle or High School level (preferred);
  • Have a background and/or training in Math (considered an asset);
  • Previous experience teaching Middle School (preferred);
  • Be committed to strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills;
  • Have the ability to offer engaging, innovative lessons, and to differentiate to meet diverse learner needs and styles;
  • Have the ability to develop a genuine relationship with students and a willingness to connect with families;
  • Possess a passion and willingness to work with students outside of the classroom in an extra-curricular setting;
  • Have a commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism;
  • Have previous experience teaching Options at the Middle School level (considered an asset).

Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment
  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
