CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION & ASSESSMENT LEAD TEACHER – St. Basil Catholic Education Centre

We are looking to hire a probationary full-time Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Lead Teacher to serve our Division Schools. This assignment is to commence at the start of the 2026/2027 school year and terminate June 30, 2027. This position is covered by the ATA collective agreement.

The Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Lead Teacher is a pivotal informal leadership role focused on bridging the gap between research-based theory and classroom practice. You will work directly with teachers to enhance student learning by integrating best practices in pedagogy, assessment, literacy, and numeracy.

Key Responsibilities Instructional Coaching
  • Provide personalized, side‑by‑side support to teachers based on specific goals and identified needs. Assist teachers in the use of classroom‑based data to identify student needs and measure the impact of instructional changes. The successful candidate should be comfortable with in‑classroom modeling, co‑teaching, and providing real‑time feedback in a non‑evaluative partnership.
Professional Development
  • Lead individual, small‑group, and whole‑staff professional learning to expand the division's collective understanding of effective instruction, including:
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiation;
  • Junior High New Curriculum Implementation;
  • Outcome Based Assessment and Proficiency scales;
  • Ability to integrate First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives and foundational knowledge into the curriculum;
  • Supporting instructional strategies tailored for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
  • Effective permeation of the Catholic faith;
  • Knowledge of leveraging educational technology and AI‑assisted tools to support differentiated instruction and streamline teacher workflow would be an asset.
Collaborative Strategy
  • Work as an essential member of the Learning Services team to plan, organize, and coordinate divisional priorities, including implementation of curriculum. Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate the complexities of school culture while leading pedagogical change.
Qualifications, Characteristics & Experience
  • Catholic Identity:
    You demonstrate a commitment to a Christ‑centered environment through your interest, lifestyle, and growth. Active participation within the Catholic faith is considered an asset.
  • Academic Foundation:
    Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is required;
    Advanced studies (Master's Degree) is considered a significant asset.
  • Teacher Leadership:
    Previous experience in coaching or teacher leadership is a distinct asset. Experience at the junior high level is preferred.
  • Organizational

    Skills:

    Proven ability to manage priorities independently and coordinate complex schedules across multiple schools and grade levels.
  • Relationship Building:
    You possess the 'soft skills' necessary to quickly and easily establish rapport and trusting working relationships with both teachers and administrators throughout the Division.
  • Coaching Mindset:
    You approach every interaction with a supportive, non‑evaluative stance, focusing on partnership and professional growth.
