Overview Wilson Middle School – Knowledge and Employability Teacher, FTE: 1.00, Probationary. Anticipated start date:
August 25, 2026.
The school serves approximately 630 students and is committed to an inclusive and caring environment. The division offers high quality learning experiences across programs to meet diverse learner needs.
Responsibilities Teach the grade 8 Knowledge and Employability program in all core subjects, as well as grade 8 Physical Education and an Options course (to be confirmed prior to start).
Demonstrate a focus on literacy and numeracy; work with staff to build a positive and inclusive school culture.
Form positive and genuine relationships for learning in an inclusive classroom; apply trauma-informed practices with project-based and hands-on learning.
Plan proactively for behavioral and diverse/complex classrooms; implement effective classroom management; use technology purposefully to enhance teaching and learning.
Engage in collaborative practice with colleagues, students, and families; contribute to school culture and extracurricular programs and partnerships.
Qualifications Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
Demonstrate knowledge of diverse learning contexts and variables influencing student success; strong content knowledge and evidence-based pedagogical approaches.
Proficient in curriculum planning, formative and summative assessment strategies, and differentiated instruction for diverse learning needs.
Commitment to reflective professional practice aligned with Alberta’s Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).
Requirements Police information check with Vulnerable Sector Check, satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
Proof of photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, provincial , passport, or Nexus card).
If needed, provide an application proof within three days of hire; documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) in the employee’s legal name.
