The Prior Learning Specialist responds to diverse requests regarding recognition of prior learning from other post-secondary institutions to Lethbridge College. Knowledge of Lethbridge College programs as well as the requesting institution’s programs is essential. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating course outlines from other institutions to determine equivalencies at Lethbridge College. The incumbent also fulfills the role of the Alberta Council of Admissions and Transfer Contact Persons’ Assistant to facilitate agreements with other ACAT institutions.

In addition, this person will support the development of articulation agreements across Canada as well as internationally.

The Prior Learning Specialist will coordinate prior learning requests with students and academic areas as well as with external agencies. The individual will work closely with the Center for Teaching and Learning to evaluate and build equivalencies for micro-credentials.

The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the college’s academic calendar.

The incumbent must possess effective communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and technical skills and be service oriented as well as be familiar with post-secondary programming at both colleges and universities in order to fulfill job requirements.
