Position: Education Assistants - Catholic Central High School
Overview  EDUCATION ASSISTANT S – Catholic Central High School, Lethbridge. This position is open to all internal and external candidates. Three continuous 28.0 hour per week Education Assistant positions commence August 25, 2026. These assignments are covered by the CUPE 1825 Support Staff collective agreement. Posting #4042536.
The Education Assistant provides support to children with a wide range of needs in the learning environment under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Lead, the classroom teacher, and the principal. This role may involve working with students who have complex sensory needs, exhibit challenging behaviours, use augmented and alternative communication systems, and may require assistance with toileting and other personal care tasks.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance in achieving the common good for all students. Through collaborative team-based structure, the Education Assistant will carry out tasks as assigned by both the daily and program supervisors.
Responsibilities   Provide support to children with a wide range of needs in the learning environment under the direction of the Inclusive Education Lead, classroom teacher, and principal. May involve working with students who have complex sensory needs, exhibit challenging behaviours, use augmentative and alternative communication systems, and may require assistance with toileting and other personal care tasks.
Meet the physical demands of the role to actively engage students in all aspects of their educational program. Maintain confidentiality.
Collaborate as part of a team; carry out tasks as assigned by daily and program supervisors.
Qualifications   Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
Special consideration will be given to candidates who have completed the Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
At least one year of experience working with students with special programming needs.
First Aid training;
Knowing ASL is an asset;
Training and experience with augmentative communication systems;
Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers.
Interpersonal Skills   Maintains confidentiality of all aspects of the school community.
Excellent communication skills; willing to participate in new learning opportunities.
Ability to take responsibility for individual student needs; ability to contribute in a collaborative team-based learning structure.
