Position Description

The School of Liberal Education at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a tenure-track position in Liberal Education at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of January 1, 2027, subject to budgetary approval. A start date of July 1, 2027 is also possible. Hiring salary will be in the range of $86,470 to $98,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake interdisciplinary teaching and research in the School of Liberal Education. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses addressing a broad range of quantitative or science-related topics and principles to a wide variety of undergraduate students with different majors.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. (or a nearly completed Ph.D. with a defence date scheduled) and have a strong quantitative background. A graduate degree in a STEM discipline or in Health Sciences would be an asset. A clear demonstration of teaching proficiency as the primary instructor in one or more undergraduate courses is essential. The School is particularly interested in applicants with a background or interest in Indigenous Science, land-based learning, climate science, or environmental science.

The School of Liberal Education

Founded in 2017, the School of Liberal Education is a small unit of faculty members and instructors at the University of Lethbridge who are distinguished by their commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research. The School’s academic staff teach a variety of undergraduate courses in liberal education to a diverse student body. Faculty members are expected to develop and maintain research programs.
