PWM is seeking a Solutions/ Applications Engineer to translate customer requirements into manufacturable, competitive and credible technical solutions for bids and strategic programs. This role sits at the centre of the pursuit process and turns mission needs into engineered approaches that PWM can deliver at high quality, on schedule, and at acceptable cost.

Required Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics, industrial, or related engineering/technology discipline.
  • 5+ years of practical engineering or applications experience in fluid power, precision manufacturing, fabricated assemblies, or engineered products.
  • Strong ability to read drawings, specifications, GD&T, BOM structures, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Working knowledge of machining, welding, coatings, assembly, testing, and quality control.
  • Experience with CAD, technical documentation, and cross-functional problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven bid environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and interest in winning work, not just designing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, statements of work, interface requirements, and quality clauses.
  • Develop solution concepts for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, manifolds, valve blocks, assemblies, precision components, and custom engineered products.
  • Evaluate manufacturability, material selection, tolerances, process routing, testing needs, inspection requirements, and production risks.
  • Support costing and pricing with technical assumptions, labour drivers, make/buy recommendations, and basis-of-estimate inputs.
  • Work with engineering, machining, welding, assembly, quality, supply chain, and proposal teams to align technical content.
