Entry-Level Environmental Protection Officer

Start your career as an Entry-Level Environmental Protection Officer with the Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas in Lethbridge. This full-time position involves regulatory inspections and compliance services across Alberta.

As an Environmental Protection Officer, you will work under the Compliance Assurance Lead to implement the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and respond to incidents.

Your role includes investigating regulatory compliance in sectors such as contaminated sites and providing technical support to your team. You will engage with stakeholders to promote compliance and develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply compliance assurance frameworks effectively

• Conduct proactive/ reactive inspections of facilities

• Respond to environmental incidents and complaints

• Gather evidence for investigations of violations

• Mentor junior staff and provide technical expertise

Requirements:

• Two-year diploma/ bachelor's degree in related field

• Four years of compliance or regulatory experience

• Valid driver’s licence required

• Relevant inspection and investigation experience preferred

• Knowledge of environmental legislation and soil conservation
