The Geriatric Community Rehabilitation (GCR), Bridges Day, and Adult Day Programs are the premier outpatient seniors' programs in Southern Alberta. The GCR program serves seniors who require outpatient therapy services and focuses primarily on rehabilitation after an event or injury. The Bridges Day program serves our seniors in the community by providing maintenance care through social, cognitive and physical engaging activities in the hope of maintaining independence.
The Therapy Assistant (TA) for recreation is a member of a larger inter-disciplinary team that includes a RN, HCAs, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Recreation Therapists, Therapy Assistants, Registered Dietitians, Pharmacists, Unit Clerks and a Geriatrician. The position is an OTA/PTA position.
The Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic rehabilitation programs. The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
AdditionalRequired Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Therapy Assistant diploma program (Occupational Therapy and/or Physical Therapy focus).
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Connect Care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Provider – Level
C) from the Heart & Stroke Foundation. - Recent experience working with older adults in community or day program settings.
