Your Opportunity

Your Opportunity:
This Physiotherapist II position with the Prehabilitation Program is a hybrid clinical role offering services virtually, and in person. Prehabilitation (Prehab) helps patients to prepare their mind and body for surgery. The AHS Prehabilitation Program offers service options across four domains – Feeling Ready, Being Active, Eating Well, and Living Well. The prehab team offers universal, targeted, and personalized services for pre-surgical patients across Alberta.

As a PT II, you will develop and deliver interactive, live webinars and group programming as well as 1:1 clinical assessment and intervention. Prehab content is developed across surgery types, and patient functional needs. The PT II will focus on the ‘Being Active’ domain while working collaboratively across all Prehab domains to ensure evidence-based, effective interventions. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician from the South Zone to build partnerships with clinicians and leaders, to establish Prehab services that complement local physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.

The AHS Prehabilitation Program is relatively new, with an ongoing focus on provincial implementation and evaluation. This PT II position requires strengths in program development, innovative practice, flexible thinking, and in negotiating change as we continue to grow as a team and program.

Description

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up.

You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.

You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings.

As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.
