Laboratory Technologist

You’re an analytical, organized lab technologist who works well under pressure. Help clinicians and patients diagnose and manage disease in Alberta Precision Laboratories’ (APL’s) busy Anatomical Pathology department of Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. An excellent problem-solver, you can adapt, prioritize, and manage your time while ensuring lab and organizational policy compliance, including quality control and quality assurance procedures. You reliably complete all shift duties as per posted schedules, and can contribute to a positive, respectful, and patient-oriented workplace independently and as part of the team.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

As Required.

Recent experience (within the last 1-3 years) in all aspects of Histology, in a medium sized testing facility. Preference given to candidate with comprehensive Histology testing including specimen grossing, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and routine H&E staining. Preference given to candidate with experience in microtomy, special stain procedures, and immunohistochemistry.
