Maintenance Supervisor – Taber, AB
Uni First Canada is seeking a reliable and hardworking Maintenance Supervisor to join our community. In this role you will ensure all facility equipment is efficiently functioning and identify areas to improve processes, procedures, maintenance practices, and on‑going training for all maintenance staff. The standard work week is Monday through Friday, with immediate opening and on‑the‑job training provided.

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, determine corrective action by checking blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Perform basic welding activities for repairs on facilities and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems.
- Perform and assign all preventive maintenance on facility and production assets.
- Follow blueprints, schematics, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications per documented schedule.
- Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre‑treatment system testing, record results, and adjust chemicals as required.
- Manage and assign all equipment maintenance, including out‑of‑hours repairs.
- Assume responsibility for all shifts in the maintenance department.
- Oversee and implement all maintenance‑related regulatory and environmental compliance requirements.
- Assume responsibility for all aspects of safety within the maintenance department.
- Perform confined space and lockout/tagout procedures where appropriate.
- Monitor technicians’ training status and provide required training.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Partner with the Production Manager to develop, manage, and maintain a budget for building, equipment, capital expenditures, and parts/labor.
- Train and develop maintenance partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by location management.
- Minimum 18 years of age with a valid non‑commercial driver’s license.
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate required.
- Pass Uni First’s maintenance knowledge assessment.
- High school diploma or GED required; two‑year technical degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment; military experience considered.
- Experience in maintenance administration (planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems).
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency reading maintenance literature in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Lockout/tagout experience.
- HVAC experience, general boiler knowledge, and basic welding equipment knowledge preferred.
- Certifications in reliability (CPMM, CMRP, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
