Overview
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to provide expert leadership in occupational health and safety across industrial and metalworking operations. This role serves as a key resource to leadership and operations, ensuring compliance with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act while supporting the consistent application of safe work practices. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and a collaborative approach to supporting safety across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities- Develop, deliver, and monitor occupational health and safety training programs aligned with operational requirements and regulatory standards
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and risk analyses related to metal fabrication and processing equipment
- Implement and maintain health and safety programs in compliance with Ontario OHSA, Ministry of Labour guidelines, and company standards
- Provide certified operator training for forklifts, overhead/bridge cranes, man lifts, and Working at Heights
- Provide technical guidance on the safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE), machine guarding, ventilation, ergonomics, and hazardous materials handling
- Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Collaborate with supervisors, Joint Health & Safety Committees, and workers to support safe work practices
- Maintain safety documentation, training records, and compliance reporting requirements
- Stay informed of changes to legislation, regulations, and standards affecting the industrial and metals sector
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related technical discipline (preferred)
- 5–10+ years of health and safety experience within an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably supporting metal services or fabrication operations
- Certified Trainer for forklifts, bridge/overhead cranes, man lifts, and Working at Heights (mandatory)
- Strong working knowledge of hazards related to welding, cutting, grinding, hot work, material handling, and heavy machinery
- Professional designation such as CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations
- Proven experience in training delivery, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
Compensation range - $75,000 - $125,000
