QA Technician

Responsibilities   Understand and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures.
Participate in day‑to‑day health and safety program by working safely at all times: always using required personal protective equipment.
Ensure authorized work is completed safely.
Utilize required controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards.
Participate actively in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives.
Report all unsafe acts and conditions and all incidents, near misses and workplace injuries/illnesses per company procedure.
Provide quality assurance testing, analysis and technical support.
Analyze blends and finished products to ensure specifications are met.
Test and report on incoming raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
Interface with production personnel and management to ensure operating conditions are maintained and laboratory specifications are effectively implemented.
Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of the food safety and quality management system.
Work within established OH&S regulations and comply with all company policies & procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications   Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
Comprehension of and familiarity with laboratory instrumentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to clearly describe food safety and quality requirements to all staff.
Excellent written, documentation and verbal communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
Teamwork ability.
Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
