Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in day‑to‑day health and safety program by working safely at all times: always using required personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure authorized work is completed safely.
  • Utilize required controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards.
  • Participate actively in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives.
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions and all incidents, near misses and workplace injuries/illnesses per company procedure.
  • Provide quality assurance testing, analysis and technical support.
  • Analyze blends and finished products to ensure specifications are met.
  • Test and report on incoming raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
  • Interface with production personnel and management to ensure operating conditions are maintained and laboratory specifications are effectively implemented.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of the food safety and quality management system.
  • Work within established OH&S regulations and comply with all company policies & procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
  • Comprehension of and familiarity with laboratory instrumentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to clearly describe food safety and quality requirements to all staff.
  • Excellent written, documentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
  • Teamwork ability.
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
