Position: Owl Migration Research Assistant Role
Become a key researcher at Lethbridge Polytechnic focusing on the Northern Saw-whet Owl Motus Project. This casual position allows you to contribute to essential research activities and fieldwork.

As the Senior Student Research Assistant at Lethbridge Polytechnic, you will play a critical role in studying the migration and breeding ecology of Northern Saw-whet Owls. The project requires literature reviews, data management, and field preparations starting September 2026. Through this position, gain applied research experience by collaborating closely with researchers and other students in a hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review literature on migration and environmental impacts

• Assess Motus receiver coverage around Cypress Hills

• Map existing infrastructure for wildlife tracking

• Prepare recommendations for field protocols and data collection

• Assist with spring migration monitoring and owl processing

Requirements:

• Current enrollment in relevant academic programs

• Excellent writing and information synthesis abilities

• High attention to detail in research methodologies

• Independent work capability with limited supervision

• Interest in conservation research and wildlife telemetry
