South Country Coop is proud to be a trusted, community‑minded organization serving our members and guests. We are currently accepting applications for a Meat Manager to lead the planning, operations, and performance of our Meat Department.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Meat Department, including production, merchandising, inventory, and food safety.
  • Achieve budgeted goals related to sales, margin, expenses, and inventory.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members, fostering a positive and engaged work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health & safety, and company policies.
  • Deliver legendary guest service and maintain high department presentation standards.
  • Collaborate with store leadership and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, living the Coop values in all interactions.
Qualifications
  • Retail Meat Cutting Certificate and/or 36 years of relevant retail experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a meat department.
  • At least 1 year of hands‑on meat cutting experience (meat processing certification is an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of retail meat operations and food safety requirements.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and employee engagement skills.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment with integrity and professionalism.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, and customer‑focused environment.
  • A results‑driven and continuous improvement mindset, focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate the Co‑op values of customer focus, building awesome teams, and communicating effectively in every aspect of work.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Work in varying temperatures, including coolers and freezers regularly.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of our customers and members.
