Position Summary:

We are currently looking for 3 Journeyman Electricians to join our growing Lethbridge automation team. As a Journeyman, you will be involved in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of commercial building automation systems. This position requires a good working knowledge of basic electronic theory and Building Electrical / Mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Install, wire, and maintain BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of installations.
• Repair and maintain low voltage systems (under 120V).
• Assist in delivering BAS solutions within the Construction/Operation Department.
• Assist with site commissioning, point-to-point verifications, troubleshooting, and startup of Building Automation Systems.
• Handle and be familiar with testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision, following Ainsworth GDI Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Perform all job functions safely, in accordance with health, safety, environmental policies, and regulations.
• Follow the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Understand the fundamentals of HVAC systems in commercial buildings.
• Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s license.
• Excellent communication skills in English – both written and oral.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ambitious learner eager to progress in building systems.
• Experience working with low voltage systems.
• Experience with HVAC, building automation systems, and VFDs is an asset.
• Experience with programming languages or IT infrastructure is an asset.
• Experience with PLCs is an asset.
• Ability to read and draw electrical sketches and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise work.
• Experience in commercial/construction installations.
