Position Summary:
We are currently looking for 3 Journeyman Electricians to join our growing Lethbridge automation team. As a Journeyman, you will be involved in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of commercial building automation systems. This position requires a good working knowledge of basic electronic theory and Building Electrical / Mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Install, wire, and maintain BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of installations.
- Repair and maintain low voltage systems (under 120V).
- Assist in delivering BAS solutions within the Construction/Operation Department.
- Assist with site commissioning, point-to-point verifications, troubleshooting, and startup of Building Automation Systems.
- Handle and be familiar with testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.
- Perform tasks with minimal supervision, following Ainsworth GDI Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform all job functions safely, in accordance with health, safety, environmental policies, and regulations.
- Follow the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Understand the fundamentals of HVAC systems in commercial buildings.
- Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Excellent communication skills in English – both written and oral.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ambitious learner eager to progress in building systems.
- Experience working with low voltage systems.
- Experience with HVAC, building automation systems, and VFDs is an asset.
- Experience with programming languages or IT infrastructure is an asset.
- Experience with PLCs is an asset.
- Ability to read and draw electrical sketches and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise work.
- Experience in commercial/construction installations.
