PROGRAM: Lethbridge Wellness Shelter & Stabilization Unit
REPORTS TO: Shelter Coordinator
SUMMARY OF WORK:
The primary objective of the program monitor is to offer support to vulnerable individuals in the shelter on their pathway to recovery. Under the direction of the Shelter Coordinator and the team lead, the program monitor provides scheduled programing to shelter guests. The Program Monitor builds rapport through ongoing connection with individuals, supporting their immediate needs, facilitate meaningful daily activity and provide referrals to applicable service providers for ongoing care and connection to services.
This will require working collaboratively with other Shelter team members and community services to ensure clients continue on their recovery pathway. They will work towards making meaningful connections through meaningful activities such as movies, life skills, board games, etc.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- First Aid Level 1 & Basic CPR certification
- Naloxone/Narcan Training
- NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Certification
- Providing direct human services to clients who are economically disadvantaged, experiencing mental health challenges, and/or drug/alcohol dependence in a diverse environment.
- Familiarity with community resources; such as addiction, mental health, income assistance, and harm reduction.
- Understands and maintains clientele/worker boundaries.
- Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, unemployment, mental health, drug and alcohol dependence and harm reduction.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, monitor, and support clients.
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Strong ability to manage stress and organize workload.
- Strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
- Promote and adhere to strict confidentiality.
SALARY RANGE:
- As per the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. salary grid.
