Our COMMUNTIY SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT (CSD) Department isseeking one (1) results-oriented team member who demonstrates professionalism and commitment to providing exemplary public service.

STATUS: Non-Permanent Term, up to 2 years (subject to continued external funding)

HOURSOF WORK: 37.5 hours per week

PAYRATE: $41.35 per hour (rate under review)

The Safer Communities program is evolving to align with emerging community trends and provincial priorities,with an increased emphasis on integrated, prevention-focused approaches to reducing risk factors associated with criminal involvement. This role reflectsa strengthened focus on mental health, substance use, and upstream prevention,supporting youth who are at-risk or involved in the justice system.

Working in partnership with the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS), community agencies, and school divisions-under the direction of the Community Social Development Operations Manager, the Educator will lead the development and delivery of evidence-informed prevention strategies. These efforts will address the root causes of criminal involvement and support youth, caregivers, and youth-serving organizations across the community.

In this role, you will:

• Identify key stakeholders serving youth in our community with capacity to implement preventative strategies.
• Develop curriculum and resources aimed at supporting families to prevent youth from entering into criminal activities/lifestyles on topics such as mental health and substance use, high-risk online behaviours, and risk and protective factors associated with justice involvement.
• Develop preventative programming and/or best practices for youth-serving organizations.
• Promote and engage Safer Communities initiatives in our community.
• Support community development initiatives by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders inproject planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement which aims to build community resources and understanding of preventative measure for youth.
• Research to identify, understand,and address the behavioural, social, political, economic, environmental and organizational factors that put youth at risk of criminal behaviour and evidence-informed strategies and/or approaches to address identified priorities.
• Monitor and analyse trends relatedto youth risk, including mental health, substance use, and criminal involvement.
• Collect and analyse data to evaluate impact and inform program refinement.
• Work collaboratively with the Safer Communities Case Managers to support case management efforts and ensure best practices.

Qualifications &

Experience:

• Bachelor’sdegree in relevant disciplines with a focus on youth, public health, addiction and mental health, crime prevention, etc.
• Minimum 3 years of experience inresults-oriented, high-paced culture focused on preventative promotion and education programming.
• Standard First Aid certification is required.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, prevention frameworks, and risk and protective factors influencing youth behaviour.
• Experience working within multi-disciplinary or integrated service models.
• Knowledge of Alberta’s mental health and addiction system and priorities.
• Experience supporting youth involved in or atrisk of justice involvement.
• Familiarity with evaluation frameworks, data collection, and outcome measurement.
• Strong communication skills; both written andverbal.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging curriculum and presentations and translate research into practical applications.
• Ability to build relationships across system sand sectors.
• Strong organizational skills and attention todetail.
• Ability to work independently in field-based environments while maintaining strong communication and coordination within ateam.
