Overview   The City of Lethbridge Public Operations Department, Parks Section, is accepting applications for one (1) seasonal position of Groundsperson Assistant/Special Events.
Job Posting    STATUS:
Full Time, Seasonal
2026 - up to3 months, remaining seasonal period
2027 andfuture years - up to 7 months
HOURSOF WORK:  40 hours per week, weekend work required. The successful applicant will also be required to work some irregular shifts including evenings.
PAYRATE:  $36.61 per hour
In this role, you will:
under the direction of the Parks Maintenance Foreperson, be required to work with Recreation &Culture Department to coordinate the City-wide special events program,including responding to special event requests from customers;
Coordinating activities with other City Departments; and Meeting customers on site to discuss logistics such as cost estimates, locations and timing and placement of equipment. The successful applicant will assist with coordinating the City-wide annual flower planting program, including planning,planting and maintaining flower beds and tending the grounds of City facilitiessuch as, but not limited to, City Hall, the Brewery Gardens, the LPS station,IBP and the Galt Museum.

The successful candidate will also supervise and participate in the work of maintenance crews. Other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table   Qualifications &

Experience:

Completed High School Diploma or equivalent
A valid class 5 Driver's License and Drivers Abstract Satisfactory to the City of Lethbridge
Must have the ability to plan with a focus onattention to detail
Some knowledge of special event coordination and gardening practices
Be able to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions
Deal effectively and courteously with thepublic and understand plans, sketches and specifications
Safely operate a variety of small equipment
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

If you are not currently a City of Lethbridge employee, at the time anoffer of employment is provided, you will be responsible for providing a copyof a five-year Commercial OR Non-Commercial Driver's Abstract. The Driver's Abstract is to be obtained within 30 calendar days of the date of offer and applicants will be responsible for the cost of obtaining the Abstract. Ifyou do not submit an Abstract, or the Abstract shows 6 or more demerits or includesany of the unacceptable driving items listed below, your offer of employmentmay be rescinded.

The City of Lethbridge reserves the right to determine whatis a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
An unacceptable driving record includes, but is not limited to:
A record of any suspension of Operator's License within the preceding three years which is related to a driving offence.
An overall driving history that reflects poor driving behavior, will be determined at the discretion of the City.
Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial driving conviction including:
a. Impaired Driving related offence
b. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
c. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
d. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
e. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
f. Careless Driving
