Position Description

  • Assignments received from: Medical Director and Deputy Medical Director
  • Positions supervised: Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner
Job Summary
  • Manages and directs all clinical services, is primarily responsible for quality of care, clinical regulatory compliance, and supervision of all clinical caregivers.
  • Collaborates across and within regions to share resources, implement improvement initiatives, and optimize clinical, financial, operational, and customer service performance in partnership with operational leaders (operations director or VP).
  • Accountable for financial, operational, and clinical goal attainment with operational partner.
  • This role has a 50% administrative requirement and a 50% clinical requirement.
Job Requirements Education
  • MD Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine.
  • Completion of medical residency with board certification or eligibility.
OR
  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants.
  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners.
Work Experience
  • Administrative experience in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, or related field, preferably in a major medical center or health system.
  • Outstanding communication and management skills, ability to work collaboratively with GoHealth staff, management, health system partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Recent clinical experience in generally accepted and currently used methods and techniques.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Currently licensed as a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant in New York and/or Connecticut (as required by geography).
Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Clinical skills commensurate with evidence‑based care and knowledge of standard of care for common urgent‑care diagnoses.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Super‑user level skills with a currently in‑use electronic medical record.
  • Strong presentation skills for clinical and administrative topics in both formal and informal settings.
  • Data analytics.
Essential Functions With Operations Partner
  • Direct identification, development, and implementation of quality and operational excellence programs.
  • Collaborate with operational partners to design, develop, and implement policies, procedures, and practices related to center operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state regulations, accreditation organizations, and joint‑venture or partner requests.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels, develop staffing models, collaborate with talent acquisition, and guide management on staffing practices.
  • Review and assess key performance indicators (KPIs), provide feedback, and recommend improvements.
  • Support cross‑market initiatives, offer guidance and best practices, ensure timelines are met, and develop cross‑market processes.
  • Collaborate across markets to share best practices, develop training plans, and track progress.
  • Manage market‑wide initiatives, including project management and outcome assessment.
  • Develop, implement, and periodically review clinical policies and procedures, and performance standards for providers.
  • Respond to needs and direct clinical staff during environmental and other unforeseen events as directed by the Medical Director or leadership.
  • Facilitate achievement of organizational targets for center EBITDA, staff, NPS, DTD time, and clinical quality metrics.
Strategic Planning
  • Develop relationships with local providers and service agencies to improve bi‑directional patient flow.
  • Use these relationships to build new programs supporting outside entities and driving new business to the Northwell‑GoHealth network.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, Deputy Medical Director, operational partner, and leadership to address site‑specific issues.
  • Partner with the GoHealth Chief Medical Officer on national and local strategic initiatives.
Clinical
  • Provide direct patient care as a scheduled provider for the required hours per pay period.
