Teaching Assistant

Kiddie Junction, a well‑respected NYS OCFS‑licensed preschool serving the Levittown community for over 35 years, is seeking a warm, reliable full‑time Teaching Assistant to join the toddler program. The Toddler Teaching Assistant works under the supervision of the Lead Teacher and Director to support a safe, engaging, and caring classroom for children approximately 18–36 months of age. The assistant helps implement daily routines, supports children’s social‑emotional development, and ensures close supervision and safety at all times.

• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a warm, structured, and developmentally appropriate toddler classroom.
• Assist with daily care routines, including diapering, toileting, handwashing, snack/lunch, rest time, and transitions.
• Engage in play, small‑group activities, and classroom experiences that promote language, social skills and independence for toddlers.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment in accordance with NYS OCFS regulations and center policies.
• Consistently supervise children within required teacher‑to‑child ratios and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Communicate positively and professionally with children, colleagues and families as part of a collaborative teaching team.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children (under age
  5), preferably in a group childcare or preschool setting.
• Genuine passion for working with toddlers, including patience, warmth, and a willingness to get on the floor and actively play and interact.
• High school diploma or equivalent, meeting NYS OCFS minimum qualifications for an assistant teacher.

• Experience in a NYS OCFS‑licensed child care or preschool program, especially in an infant/toddler or 2’s classroom.
• Completed or in‑progress coursework, certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
• Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practice and play‑based learning for toddlers.

• Full‑time position following the preschool calendar and daily operating hours; specific schedule to be discussed during the interview.
• Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience and education, with opportunities for professional development and ongoing training in accordance with NYS OCFS requirements.
