Are you curious, self-motivated and able to develop excellent working relationships? If so, we could have the right job for you!
We are currently looking for 2 Internal Auditors to join our forward-thinking Internal Audit partnership between East Sussex County Council (ESCC) and Brighton and Hove City Council (B&HCC). We have the following available roles:
- 1 Auditor
- 1 Auditor – Term Time Only – this role will have a particular focus on school audits but will also be required to do other audits
The posts will be employed by ESCC and will require some travel across East Sussex and Brighton. We currently work on a hybrid basis with an expectation that everyone within our service will share time between working from one of our available offices and from home.
Internal Audit is responsible for providing assurance to our clients in relation to internal control, governance and risk management, supporting each organisation to achieve its overall objectives. As a service, we are proud to have demonstrated high levels of compliance with the standards applicable to Internal Audit and, as a new partnership, we have exciting plans to continue to develop the service even further.
You would be part of a team that independently helps our organisations and clients understand what is working and what isn’t, identifying where risks lie before they become problems, and working with management to agree actions for improvement. Previous experience in an audit team is not necessary.
You will work closely with services covering all aspects of both Council and client operations. You will have the following:
- A broad understanding of the role of Internal Audit
- Experience of writing reports and presenting findings to management
- An ability to convey information to, and agree actions with, a wide audience
- The ability to develop and build effective client relationships with customers and clients as part of individual audit assignments
We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. Vocational Training through Apprenticeships is now available to our staff, ranging from entry level to degree level qualifications. We provide professional development opportunities, including buddying, on‑the‑job training and access to further professional and personal development.
About UsEast Sussex County Council is committed to supporting employees and ensuring a fair and inclusive workplace.
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
We are an equal opportunity employer. We provide reasonable adjustments to support applicants with disabilities.
