We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Lewes, a category B Prison located in East Sussex.
HMP Lewes is a busy remand male prison with a capacity for around 750 inmates. You will be working within the Substance Misuse Team supporting patients with their recovery from alcohol or drug addiction.

HoursMonday - Friday 37.5 hours per week 0900 - 1730
SalaryThis position is full time, you will receive an annual salary up to £31,0080 per annum FTE- depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job- Provide outstanding evidence based care to a caseload of psychosocial patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
- Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions, along with information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
- Deliver non-judgemental care on a one-to-one basis and through group work, supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks.
- Make a real difference as defined throughout our bespoke HiJ competency framework following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Relevant degree/qualification or equivalent experience
Knowledge and experience in the provision of structured psychosocial interventions
Experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, that includes housing, social care, healthcare, and mental health pathways
A non-judgemental and compassionate approach
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
