37.5 hours a week, Monday – Sunday 7pm-07.30am. Working pattern: 3 shifts of 11.5 hours per week for three weeks, and 4 shifts of 11.5 hours every fourth week.
SalaryUp to £52,259 per annum – depending on experience.
Job descriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison located near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, just a 5 minute walk away.
Responsibilities- Lead a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
- Undertake medication rounds and dispense controlled medication.
- Attend emergency response situations.
- Assess patients and undertake reception screening.
- Use an evidence‑based framework to assess health needs and risk, applying sound clinical knowledge.
- Assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission and throughout custody to make appropriate referrals.
- Make clinical judgments concerning immediate need and long‑term treatment.

- Understanding of mental health policy, clinical governance, quality and outcomes framework, NICE, and national standards.
- Experience working in secure environments (prison, immigration removal centres, etc.).
