Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced practice nurse. Though advertised as part‑time, the role offers scope for full‑time hours from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm with flexible day lengths.
The Nursing Team delivers evidence‑based practice for the local population, focusing on long‑term conditions and preventive care.
Responsibilities- Chronic Disease Management (COPD, Asthma, Diabetes)
- Adult and child immunisations and vaccinations
- Cervical cytology
- Wound care and dressing changes
- Contraceptive reviews
- General health advice and health promotion programmes
- Administration of vaccinations, including competency in anaphylaxis and resuscitation
- Perform procedures: venepuncture, BP management, ECGs, urinalysis, peak flow, pregnancy testing, stitch/clip removal, ear syringing, cytology, wound management
- Recognise and document signs of child and adult abuse
- Undertake chronic disease annual reviews and prepare for QoF requirements
- Initiate diagnostic processes for suspected chronic disease and refer appropriately
- Participate in clinical audits and research studies
- Refer to multidisciplinary team and statutory/voluntary agencies as needed
- Contribute to care delivery monitoring, communication, and teamwork
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to HCAs
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current registration (e.g. NMC in the UK)
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Practice nurse qualifications or equivalent experience
- Experience in general practice or primary care setting
- Competence in venepuncture, ECG recording, blood pressure monitoring
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments
- Sound clinical decision‑making skills
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control
- Safe medicines management and vaccine administration
- Good understanding of primary care services and patient pathways
- Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children
- Understanding of clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
- Familiarity with national clinical guidelines and evidence‑based practice
- Understanding of confidentiality, consent and data protection requirements
- Experience managing long‑term conditions (Diabetes, Asthma, COPD)
- Experience delivering childhood and adult immunisations
- Experience in wound care and leg ulcer management
- Experience delivering cervical screening (where applicable)
- Experience supervising HCAs or trainee nurses
- Experience participating in audit, quality improvement or research
- Competent in using EMIS electronic patient record systems
- Excellent up‑to‑date clinical knowledge
- Commitment to professional development

- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Judgement, resourcefulness and common sense
- Ability to work independently and determine own priorities
