Main duties of the jobThis is a new post with a special interest in the communication clinic pathway with assessments of children with social communication disorders. This role will have a lead within the communication clinic for diagnosis for the under 5-year-old group.
There is no overnight commitment. The postholders will contribute to the daytime child protection rota, but there is no expectation to contribute to Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) medicals.
The postholder will join a team of 9 Consultant Community Paediatricians, 2 community SAS doctors and one Speciality Doctor. Senior therapists and clinical nurse specialist also contribute to assessments and care for young people.

Clinical Responsibilities:
The post holder will work in all aspects of Community Paediatrics, suited to their experience and competencies and the priorities of service provision.
The post holder will undertake assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental concerns and safeguarding.
Undertake neurodevelopmental assessments including for Autism and Social Communication Disorders.
Participate in the consultant-led Child Protection rota.
Undertake health assessments for Looked After Children and provide written reports as appropriate.
Support and advice colleagues in the clinical assessment and care of children and young people, whilst being clear about others personal clinical professional accountability.
Provision of supervision to trainees and specialist doctors and extended members of the clinical team including clinical nurse specialists and AHPs.
General responsibilities
To participate in clinical supervision and continuing professional development of both career and training grade medical staff
To work with Community Paediatric services and Childrens Community Services Directorate to meet service commitments and needs of children and families.
To develop care pathways across the acute and community services
To participate in the development of Specialist Child Health Services in collaboration with other members of the management team
To support the collection of relevant information on the work of the medical team, detailing the work of the service for stakeholders.
Medical Education & Teaching:
To take part in clinical and educational supervision of post graduate trainees.
To participate in the medical student training programme.
To plan and deliver training for GP trainees and other post-graduate teaching.
Contribute to the delivery of training for health staff and inter-agency training.
To liaise with other agencies on clinical and operational matters relevant to the work of the service.
