We’re looking for dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistants to work in welcoming mainstream primary schools across Lewisham.
This role is about consistency. Trust. Being the steady adult a child can rely on.
You’ll be supporting one pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning, manage emotions and feel safe in the classroom.
For some children, you won’t just be support staff. You’ll be their safe space.
What you’ll be doing- Providing 1:1 classroom support for a pupil with SEND
- Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Using positive behaviour strategies to encourage regulation
- Helping with social interaction and communication
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
Needs may include autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or learning delays. Every child is different, and so is every day.
We’re looking for someone who:- Has experience supporting children with SEND
- Is calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent
- Understands behaviour as communication
- Can build strong, trusting relationships
- Is available full-time during term time
Experience in youth work, care settings, mentoring, or specialist SEND environments is highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
