Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher looking for an exciting opportunity in Lewisham?

GSL Education London are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Humanities Teacher to join a secondary school in Lewisham on either a long-term or permanent basis. The school is flexible regarding specialism and can accommodate either a History or Geography specialist by adjusting the current staffing structure.

The successful Humanities Teacher will deliver engaging lessons across the Humanities curriculum, inspiring students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator who is committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for students.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons across relevant key stages.
  • Teach either History or Geography as your specialist subject, with flexibility across the department.
  • Support students according to the curriculum and syllabus.
  • Prepare students for assessments and examinations.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities.
  • Encourage curiosity, discussion, and independent learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school staff to support student achievement.
Requirements
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in History, Geography, Humanities, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Humanities within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in either History or Geography.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
