The large and successful school based in Lewisham are looking for a Teaching Assistant/Drama Specialist to join them 5 days a week, starting in September 2026. This Lewisham-based school caters for students aged 5 to 11 years old with complex needs, including moderate and severe learning disabilities (MLD/SLD). Their vision, values, and aims are embedded by pupils, parents, Governors, and colleagues to enable as much inclusion in society as possible.

The school and staff aim to give their pupils the skills and experience so that they can find meaningful employment, whether paid or voluntary.

The curriculum is highly personalised and creative, with an emphasis on developing pupil voice throughout all activities and lessons. The Lewisham SEN School is seeking a Drama Specialist who will work in the Drama room with a range of ages and needs. It is important that you have experience working with SEN, along with a basic knowledge and love for Drama/acting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting within the Drama classroom
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students
  • Assisting with communication needs and promoting positive behaviour
  • Supporting students with physical and emotional needs
Essential Requirements
  • Experience supporting young people with special needs, ASC / MLD / SLD
  • Previous support work, TA or LSA work within a school or other child-related experience
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and friendly approach
  • A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils
  • Legal right to work in the UK
