Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning?

We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in Lewisham
, supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of young people. The role will involve working closely with teachers and students to create a positive, supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

The Role

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work alongside teachers to help deliver engaging and excellent education.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and encourage their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support students with challenging behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches.
  • Help students develop their social, emotional and communication skills.
  • Encourage positive engagement with learning and support students to reach their potential.
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive school environment.
About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH, SEND or specialist setting.
  • A good understanding of ADHD and Autism
    .
  • Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
    .
  • A patient, empathetic and consistent approach.
  • The resilience and confidence to manage challenging situations professionally.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • Experience or knowledge of construction would be highly advantageous
    , particularly for candidates interested in supporting students with practical or vocational learning.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
