Experience with in a secondary school environment. Regular opportunities to support pupils in small groups and one-to-one. The chance to develop your classroom experience. Support from experienced English teachers. Exposure to GCSE teaching and assessment. Valuable experience for future Teacher Training applications. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils across KS3 and GCSE English. Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions. Helping pupils improve essay writing and written communication. Supporting reading comprehension and analytical skills. Helping pupils prepare for GCSE examinations. Working alongside English teachers to identify areas for improvement. Tracking pupil progress and providing feedback. Supporting pupils to become more confident and independent learners. The successful English Academic Mentor will:
Have a 2:1 or above degree in English, English Literature or a related subject. Have strong A-Level results. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Be confident supporting GCSE-level English. Have a genuine interest in education and working with young people. Be considering Teacher Training or a career in education. Be able to build positive relationships with pupils.
