Assistant Professor

LC State invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $63,000

Degree Required: PhD or EdD in special education, curriculum, & instruction or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university before the appointment date (ABD considered).

Required Qualifications:

• Candidates should have a proven ability to develop and deliver online courses.
• Committed to program assessment.
• Effective supervision of student teachers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successful experience teaching in public K-12 schools.
• Successful experience teaching college courses, both face-to-face and online.
• Experience supervising student teaching internships.
• Able to implement new curriculum.
• Potential for scholarship demonstrated by publications, presentations, or grants.
• Active in relevant professional organizations.
• Experience providing academic advising for Teacher Education majors.

Responsibilities:

Teach 24 adjusted credit hours per academic year as assigned by the Division Chair (teaching assignments may include online instruction);
Supervise student teaching internships in the schools; advise Teacher Education majors; be actively involved in relevant professional organizations; develop a record of publications, presentations, and grants; participate in Teacher Education program assessment; serve on division and campus committees; work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.

Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support the recruitment and retention of students.
