Overview

Are you ready to lead transformative water infrastructure projects that serve communities and protect vital resources? Merrick is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our growing Water Group in Idaho. This is your opportunity to work on innovative water, wastewater, and reuse systems that make a real difference.

Typical salary range for this position is $ - $. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You ll Do
  • Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including advanced treatment/nutrient removal processes using Bio Win process modeling software. Also experienced with water and sewer pipelines, pump stations and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products.
  • Provide construction support and oversight including administration, limited inspection, and start-up/operations support for treatment plants. Review designs by others for conformance to design standards and support municipal water utility operations and maintenance teams.
  • Capable of performing independent design tasks, reviewing the designs of others, preparing bid documents including drawings and specifications, and organizing all drawings, reports, calculations, and project deliverables after receiving initial instructions from the project manager and with limited supervision.
  • Capable of directing and managing a team of design engineers and/or technicians on water and wastewater projects.
  • Become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures, understand them and apply them when required.
  • Make sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Interface effectively with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies; lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.
  • Additional duties may involve project management for projects.
  • Some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater infrastructure facilities and projects.
  • Experience working on wastewater projects.
  • Must have a valid driver s license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Certifications
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) State of Idaho.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with a focus on treatment processes
  • Experience with:
    • Water/sewer modeling
    • Bio Win modeling
    • Advanced treatment/nutrient removal
    • GIS systems
  • Public works experience with local, state, or federal agencies
  • Local candidates preferred (relocation available for the right fit)
