Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, Lewiston facility is now hiring for full‑time Rehabilitation Technicians or Rehabilitation Technician Trainees.

Shift differential available at a 5 percent increment!
Responsibilities- Treatment:
- Implements treatment strategies developed by treatment team.
- Conducts drug and alcohol and social skills training.
- Provides individual and group counseling; integrates daily activities with treatment goals.
- Encourages and motivates youth; acts as a role model for appropriate conduct and decision making.
- Provides input for development of treatment strategies; implements established intervention methods and facilitates problem‑solving sessions by youth.
- Supervision:
- Supervises youth to insure compliance with institutional policies and procedures, daily activity schedules, protection of individual rights, and maintenance of living unit security.
- Oversees free time and recreational activities to encourage positive group interaction.
- Plans and leads special recreational and educational activities.
- Assists youth with homework; intervenes in confrontations between youth to protect against injury or harassment.
- Provides orientation to youth about policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Reports accidents, changes in health, or other emergencies to nursing staff or security.
- Provides first aid; monitors personal hygiene of youth.
- Assigns and supervises housekeeping duties to maintain sanitary living conditions.
- Performs routine cleaning duties.
- Transports offenders to other facilities, outside appointments, work or community service activities.
- May search for runaways.
- May supervise youth in community service projects.
- May supervise and assist in the evaluation of job coaches.
- Charting:
- Logs observations of group and individual behavior.
- Charts treatment progress; maintains records and prepares reports.
- Minimum 6 months of working knowledge pertaining to individual and group behavior of youth; recreational activities for youth.
- Minimum 6 months of working knowledge of instilling values and motivating youth in learning positive life skills; using a personal computer to enter, retrieve and edit information.
- Meet entrance requirements established by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy for correction officers including the following:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be eligible for and in good standing to obtain a POST certification within 12 months of hire
- Possess a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
- For those that served in the military, must have a discharge indicating honorable, uncharacterized, or general under honorable conditions.
- Hold a current and valid driver’s license in your state of residence; be a U.S. Citizen.
- No conviction, withheld judgment, suspicion or imposed conviction of the following:
See POST IDAPA Code 11.11.01 for more information. - A felony age eighteen (18) years old or older at the time of conviction.
- A misdemeanor DUI within the last 2 years or had 2 or more misdemeanor DUI within the last 2 years or had 2 or more misdemeanor DUI offenses within 5 years immediately preceding application.
- A misdemeanor crime involving domestic violence within the last 5 years preceding this application.
- A misdemeanor crime of deceit or a misdemeanor sex offense within the last 5 years preceding this application.
- A misdemeanor drug‑related offense within one (1) year immediately preceding this application.
- No purchase, possession, or use of marijuana, cannabis, hashish, hash oil, or THC in synthetic and natural forms within one (1) year immediately preceding job application.
