Responsibilities

As a Long-Term Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to elderly residents living in long-term care facilities. You will diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions, provide preventative care, and coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that residents receive the best possible care.

Essential Duties
  • Conduct regular medical assessments and evaluations of residents
  • Diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions, including chronic illnesses, acute illnesses, and injuries
  • Prescribe medications and other treatments as needed>
  • Provide preventative care, including immunizations and health screenings
  • Monitor residents’ overall health and well-being, including physical, mental, and emotional health
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to provide coordinated care
  • Communicate regularly with facility staff and residents’ families to ensure that residents’ needs are being met
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and training programs as required
  • Attend regular meetings with the facility’s medical director or administrator
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the state of practice
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric medicine
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including residents, faculty members, staff, and patients
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems and other clinical technologies
