Science Adjunct Faculty – Central Maine Healthcare
Maine College of Health Professions (MCHP) is a private, not‑for‑profit institution that offers nursing and medical imaging programs. We are seeking a Science Adjunct Faculty member to join our team and provide exceptional education to students in a dynamic, innovative environment.
Responsibilities- Provide students with a vibrant, engaging, and outcomes‑driven learning experience in a small, pioneering educational environment.
- Teach courses – didactic and/or laboratory – using a variety of teaching modalities (online, face‑to‑face, and hybrid) in a variety of settings (didactic and laboratory).
- Support student success by providing advisory services and student‑centered learning opportunities.
- Engage in interprofessional education and actively pursue innovation in curriculum design.
- Create an effective learning environment that incorporates multiple instructional methods.
- Submit grades accurately and in a timely manner, provide constructive and timely feedback on student work, and advise students according to best practice.
- Participate in curriculum development and contribute to the mission and goals of the College.
- Maintain academic expertise and communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Provide appropriate guidance to students regarding academic performance and refer them to staff members as needed.
- Adhere to MCHP faculty policies and procedures, as defined in the Faculty Handbook.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and/or microbiology.
- Knowledge of laboratory best practices (for laboratory courses only).
- Knowledge of curriculum development and planning.
- Knowledge of educational technology.
- Understanding and respect for diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Skills in operating laboratory equipment (for laboratory courses only).
- Skills in effectively managing classes, including planning and student performance assessment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Critical and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to apply learning theory in the classroom.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform a variety of tasks under pressure.
- Self‑motivated, self‑directed, and able to work independently.
- Commitment to principles of respect, trust, integrity, teamwork, and positive collaboration.
- A master’s degree in a related science (biology, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, biological anthropology, etc.) from an accredited university or college.
- A willingness to work according to a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends may be required).
- Previous teaching experience in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Doctoral degree.
- Experience in course design, simulation‑based learning, and interprofessional education.
- Expertise in the science of effective teaching and learning.
- Familiarity with Quality Matters.
