. Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Full Time, Payment Variance Specialist to join the Patient Financial Service team. This position is primarly based in office.

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoast Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, Life Flight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services.

Responsibilities

The Payment Variance Specialist is responsible for applying fundamental knowledge of billing, coding and payer requirements as it relates to researching, analyzing, and resolving denials, contractual underpayments and credits. This job requires regular outreach to payers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience in health care billing functions.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks efficiently and in timely manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with people.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic skills - demonstrates ability to organize, perform and track multiple tasks accurately in short time frames; able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple demands; able to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player; demonstrates adaptability, analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
