Responsibilities
Prepare and serve food for residents and guests, ensuring proper handling and compliance with federal, state and local standards. Follow facility policies and procedures.
Essential Duties- Provide each resident with a well‑balanced diet per the diet plan directed by the Director of Personal Care Services and approved by the Dietitian.
- Offer minimum daily requirements for adults based on assessment, and provide meals via selective menus.
- Provide nutritionally balanced snacks and nourishment between meals and at bedtime.
- Prepare therapeutic diets as prescribed by physicians and according to facility breakdowns.
- Substitute foods when necessary, following state menu guidelines and knowledge of food values.
- Maintain safe, sanitary food storage and protect food.
- Refrigerate, freeze and maintain hot foods appropriately per established policies.
- Prepare food in a safe, sanitary manner per regulations and use appropriate infection control techniques.
- Use appropriate utensils and monitor equipment for safety; report issues to the Director of Personal Care Services.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment and designated kitchen areas per cleaning schedule during scheduled hours.
- Supervise dietary aides in the absence of the Director of Personal Care Services.
- Set up paperwork for new residents in the absence of the Director of Personal Care Services.
- Attend in‑service education programs and staff meetings per facility policy.
- Assist in training and orientation of staff as assigned.
- Maintain open communications with the Director of Personal Care Services and Nursing Services as indicated.
- Offer alternative foods per policy and procedure; communicate changes to residents.
- Handle service of all meals in accordance with policy.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Personal Care Services.
- Customer service:
Interact consistently with all individuals, fostering an environment of exceptional personal service.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of cooking experience; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong written and verbal skills; additional languages preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to engage patients and team members using CMH Experience Standards.
- Demonstrated ability to direct and triage in a fluid operational environment.
- Ability to collaborate with all layers of the management/administration team.
