Radiologic Technologist – Full-time, Day Shift

Position:
Full‑time, 30 hours per week, benefit eligible.

$15,000 SIGN ON BONUS

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Radiological Technologist/X‑ray Tech to join the Central Maine Medical Center Diagnostic X‑ray team.

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoast Maine. CMH’s facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, Life Flight of Maine’s southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high‑quality clinical services.

Responsibilities

The Radiological Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Provides direct and indirect supervision of Radiologic Technology students. Participates in CQI activities. Participates in on call, weekend and holiday schedules.

Essential Duties
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
  • Responsible for safe handling of radiographic equipment.
  • Instructs and prepares patients for roentgenographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
  • Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Operates mobile fluoroscopy equipment during special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as orthopedic and spine procedures in surgery.
  • Programs portable or stationary x‑ray machines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations.
  • Processes radiographic image.
  • Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining records and reports.
  • Enters data via a computer terminal.
  • Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
  • Takes x‑ray call according to a weekly schedule. Works weekends and/or holidays.
  • Interacts professionally with patient, family and staff.
  • Completes all work competently and efficiently by the end of the shift.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of local fire and safety regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
  • Cooperates with the department’s performance improvement initiatives and compiles and maintains quality assurance information as requested.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
  • Customer Service:
    Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.
  • Internal team members who apply for a role that has a sign on bonus for external candidates will not be eligible for the sign on bonus. Team members who have been gone from CMH for one year or more are eligible for a sign on bonus payment.
