Registered Nurse RN – Emergency Department, Per Diem

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team at the CMMC Emergency Department in Lewiston, ME. The position is a per diem, as needed role with variable shifts.

• Obtain nursing history, perform assessment, and develop a plan of care for patients.
• Perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassess as required.
• Prioritize care during high‑acuity situations and triage patients efficiently.
• Administer medications safely, following the five medication rights and reducing medication errors.
• Assist physicians with procedures and provide services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Start peripheral IVs and care for post‑surgical patients.
• Treat patients and families with respect, dignity, and empathy.
• Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
• Serve as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
• Maintain accurate documentation that meets current standards and policies.
• Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary and manage equipment safely.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and interdisciplinary consultation.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Maine (BSN preferred).
• Current ACLS and BLS certification (PALS desired).
• One year of nursing experience (desired).
• Bilingual (desired).
• Knowledge of nursing process and ability to engage patients and team members.
• Strong communication, teamwork, resilience, and adaptability to change.
• Ability to collaborate with all layers of management and administration.
• Ability to direct and triage in a highly fluid operational environment.
