Position Details

Employment status: Part-Time (24 hours) and benefit-eligible.

Shift: Days.

Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME.

Eligibility: Up to $15,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible candidates.

This role supports the CVICU/Step Down Team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric populations, promoting and restoring health through the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; support and educate patients and families throughout hospitalization; act as the patient advocate while following the plan of care and responding to changes in condition or treatment.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop an appropriate plan of care.
  • Demonstrate time-conscious prioritization during high-acuity situations.
Essential Duties
  • Obtain nursing history, perform nursing assessment and develop plan of care for patients (adult, geriatric and general patient populations).
  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments as per policy.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Start peripheral IVs and care for post-surgical patients.
  • Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and spiritual needs.
  • Serve as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers; communicate clearly with leadership and team members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide necessary care; ensure patient safety and reduce errors.
  • Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities; collaborate with other departments as needed.
  • Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Med/Surg/Rehab

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Maine; BSN preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Critical Care/ED

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Maine; BSN preferred.
  • Current ACLS and BLS (PALS desired); TNCC desired.

Preferred

  • One year of nursing experience.
  • Bilingual.

Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to engage patients and team members using CMH Experience Standards.
  • Ability to direct and triage in a highly fluid, dynamic operational environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of management/administration.
