Position DetailsEmployment status: Part-Time (24 hours) and benefit-eligible.
Shift: Days.
Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME.
Eligibility: Up to $15,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible candidates.
This role supports the CVICU/Step Down Team.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric populations, promoting and restoring health through the nursing process.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; support and educate patients and families throughout hospitalization; act as the patient advocate while following the plan of care and responding to changes in condition or treatment.
- Demonstrate ability to perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop an appropriate plan of care.
- Demonstrate time-conscious prioritization during high-acuity situations.
- Obtain nursing history, perform nursing assessment and develop plan of care for patients (adult, geriatric and general patient populations).
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments as per policy.
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Start peripheral IVs and care for post-surgical patients.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and spiritual needs.
- Serve as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers; communicate clearly with leadership and team members.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
- Interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide necessary care; ensure patient safety and reduce errors.
- Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities; collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
Education and Experience:
Med/Surg/Rehab
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Maine; BSN preferred.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
Critical Care/ED
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Maine; BSN preferred.
- Current ACLS and BLS (PALS desired); TNCC desired.
Preferred
- One year of nursing experience.
- Bilingual.
