This is a Per-Diem opportunity in the Food Services Department at Central Maine Healthcare.

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people in central, western and Midcoast Maine. CMH facilities include Central Maine Medical Center (Lewiston), Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, and CMH Medical Group. Other services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, Life Flight of Maine’s southern Maine base, and the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center.

• Reads recipes and/or product directions.
• Estimates food requirements.
• Operates kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving, and storing.
• Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods and properly stores food, using knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
• Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
• Keeps records and requisitions for supplies/equipment as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following CMH, patient, and regulatory rules and procedures.
• Sets up stations with entrées, soups, salads, breads, condiments, other food products and utensils.
• Provides general stocking duties in service area.
• Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables, and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
• Brews coffee and tea; may restock other beverage areas.
• Interacts with customers in serving, retail and dining areas; assists customers with opening containers and cutting food when requested.
• Attends allergy and foodborne illness in-service training; complies with safety, risk management, and HACCP policies.
• Reports accidents and injuries; participates in safety meetings and hazard assessments.
• Adheres to HIPAA guidelines for handling PHI.
• Attends training programs as designated; may work on a tray line to distribute food.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• No previous work experience required.
